ANTIQUE NATURAL TURQUOISE STATION LONGUARD - reserved
Fifty-six inches of Victorian curb chain punctuated by ten natural turquoise spheres, each one wrapped at the centre with a gold collar so the stone blooms outward on both faces. Finding one with double-sided stones this size, in this condition, is rare.
Turquoise was one of the most beloved stones of the Victorian era, worn by Queen Victoria herself and carried as a token of friendship and affection. The turquoise runs from deep sea green through slate blue into warm brown, each stone slightly different from the last, all resembling planets in minature. All ten stones are in very good condition; minor nibbles and light surface scratches are visible when examined but the stones present beautifully to the naked eye.
Worn over the head, this works long opera style, or can be doubled, or tripled, three very different looks from one piece.
