French Belle Époque festoon swag necklace in 18ct gold with Sapphires and Pearls

Breathtakingly beautiful. There is no other way to start. A French Belle Époque festoon swag necklace in 18ct gold, confirmed by the eagle head hallmark on the clasp, circa 1880 to 1910. Fine and delicate in every detail, the wirework chain forming seven graduating swags, five of which carry drops of faceted blue sapphires each perfectly topped with a seed pearl, with a further five matching drops falling from the chain above. Ten sapphire and pearl drops in total, every one of them well matched and in excellent condition.
The sapphires are set in pear shaped collets with a decorative twisted wire rim. Deep blue against the soft lustre of seed pearls and warm 18ct gold. It is perfection.
At 17 inches with a central drop of 5cm this sits beautifully on the décolletage.
