Edwardian 15ct Gold Guilloche Enamel, Miniature Portrait and Pearl Pendant Necklace

An exceptional Edwardian pendant necklace of extraordinary quality. The double-sided pendant measures 2.5cm in diameter, the front face set with deep cobalt blue guilloche enamel over engine turning, the radiating pattern shifting and deepening as the light changes, centred with a pearl. The reverse houses a miniature portrait of an 18th century figure under glass. Where most examples of this type carry only a plain glass compartment, this one retains its original portrait, a rare survival.
A baroque pearl drops from the base of the pendant. A further pearl is set into the chain above, drawing the eye down to the pendant. The chain is fine oval cable link, tested 15ct gold throughout, matching the pendant case in tone. No hallmarks present.
The guilloche enamel is in remarkable condition with no chips, no crazing and no discolouration. An exceptional example of the form.
