Antique Victorian High Carat Gold Marquise Locket with Paste and Pearl

A superb Victorian marquise locket in rich, high-carat gold. The front glows with a deep purple foil-backed paste, its centre set with a row of graduated seed pearls and framed in hand-twisted gold rope, all inside a crisp engraved border. Flip it over and the back is a riot of hand-engraved flowers and scrolls around a vacant cartouche, ready for initials. Inside, it's still lined with its original-style purple silk, and it shuts with a reassuring click.
